Shawn M. Spence

        Shawn Matthew Spence, 43, of Stoutsville, passed away Wednesday, January10, 2018 peacefully at his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was born October 22, 1974 in Mayfield Heights, Ohio to Larry Wayne and Dorothy (Davies) Spence who survive.  Shawn attended Bowling Green State University and graduated with a degree in communication. He was a district manager for Aqua Doc in Grove City, and had previously worked as a firefighter/paramedic for the city of Kirtland Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors, and adored his wife and their three children.

        In addition to his parents, Shawn is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Tonya (Westenbarger) Spence; children, Trevor, Carly and Travis Spence; brothers, Heath (Shane) Spence of Chardon, OH, Jeremy (Kim) Spence of Havelock, NC, and Jared Spence of Norfolk, VA; maternal grandmother, Evelyn Davies of Willoughby, OH;  brother-in-law, Troy (Kimberly) Westenbarger of Laurelville, OH; father-in-law, Tom Westenbager of Mt. Vernon, OH; nieces and nephews, Winter and Landon Spence, Shelby Spence, Kelcee and Cole Westenbarger; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 
        He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Harrison Davies; and paternal grandparents, Wayne and Margaret Spence.
        In keeping with the family’s request, cremation and a private memorial service will be held under the direction of the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda.
