Rodney O. Parsons, 79, of Rockbridge, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, October 17, 2019. He was born July 14, 1940 in Kentuck, West Virginia and was the son of the late Orland Parsons and Rhoda (Mays) Koon. Rodney served in the U.S. Army. He was a carpenter and along with his wife, Frances, owned and operated Parsons Carryout for 10 years.
He is survived by five sisters, Patsy (Bernard) Livingston, Joy (Art) Knopp, Janet (Bill) Shimp, Nancy (William) Franklin and Jenny (Dale) Weckerly; four brothers, Ronnie Skeen, Allen Kuhn, Andy Kuhn and Ernie (Brenda) Koon; sister-in-law, Wilda Kuhn, who cared for Rodney for over 10 years. He is most grateful for his niece, Susan Phillips and his grandson, Mike Vaughn. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Parsons; grandparents who raised him, Holly and Bertha Mays; seven brothers and sisters.
Cremation has been handled with care by the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at South Perry United Methodist Church with Evangelist Buddy Robinson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Bethany Cemetery.
