Rita Wooten

Rita A. Wooten, age 80, of Amanda, passed away on June 11, 2024 at Legacy Dublin. She was born in Zanesville, to John and Mary (Eveland) Russi on July 17, 1943. She graduated from high school in Winter Garden, Florida in 1961. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ohio University. She taught special education for 20 years, most of which were in Amanda. Following her retirement, she owned and operated R & W Sales and Trophies in Amanda. Rita enjoyed sewing and crafts, and she was skilled as a costumer for several Renaissance festivals.

Rita is survived by her daughter, Patti (Jeff) Jones of Columbus; her half brother, Donald Azbell of Titusville, FL; and her half sister, Pam (Tom) Maxwell, of Zanesville. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Wooten; and her half sister, Lynette Barlow.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda with Robin Weier officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
