Ray G. Wampler, age 88 of Stoutsville, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born June 1, 1932 in McDowell, KY, son of the late Rome and Lucille (Moore) Wampler. He was a member of Lithopolis Blue Lodge #169; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Aladdin Shrine, member of the Pickaway County Shriners and a Kentucky Colonel. Ray loved to travel out West; he drove to Alaska twice. He loved visiting all the casinos and collecting old cars, especially Buicks. Ray had a gift for gab, never met a stranger and loved going out to eat. He was the former owner of Wampler Truck Plaza in Circleville.
He is survived by his children, Jerry (Frances) Wampler, of Circleville, Bill (Cindy) Wampler, of Stoutsville, and Lucy (Bud) Cordle, of Stoutsville; grandchildren, Billy (Erica) Wampler Jr., Lisa Wampler, Kellie Wampler, Kathy Devaney, Jeanette (David) Zilbolsky, Tyler (Paige Smith) Cordle, and Cody (Cassie) Cordle; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Naomi Wampler, of Lancaster; special nieces, Vickie Williams, Donna Warner and Beverly Jacbos. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty E. Wampler; and his brother, Junior Wampler.
A public graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Lithopolis with Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Due to the COVID Pandemic, no public visitation will be observed. Arrangements are in care of Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. In accordance with State mandates, COVID Protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed at the cemetery.
