Melba E. Winland, 99, of Whitehall, formerly of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Manor of Whitehall. She was born Dec. 5, 1913 in Vinton Co. and was the daughter of the late Garfield and Josie (Bishop) Hill. Melba was retired from Buchanan's Furniture in Lancaster and attended Hopewell United Methodist Church many years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Elaine (Jack) Warnett of Columbus; brother, Glenn (Martha) Hill of Peru, Indiana; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Denver (Ruby) Winland and Henry (Faye) Winland both of Laurelville and Eva Horn of Tarlton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Winland; four brothers, Kenneth, Hamlin, Raymond and Ralph Hill and a sister, Myrna Bennett.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Rev. G. William Pursley and Rev. Susan M. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to service on Monday at the funeral home.
