Evalene M. Warner, 99, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, Mar. 6, 2010 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 2, 1910 in Fairfield County and was the daughter of the late Alva and Carrie (Pierce) Bobo.
After graduation from Amanda High School in 1929 she completed a one year Office Training course in Columbus and went to work at the Old Columbus Citizen newspaper where she met her husband, Robert. She was formerly active at Olivedale Senior Center and was a member of Friends of the Parks, Lancaster Garden Club, Fairfield Heritage Association and the League of Women Voters. Evalene attended Trinity Lutheran Church on Crumley road and spent fourteen years at Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County.
She is survived by a son Robert (Emily) Warner Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughters, Barbara June (Gary) Hunt of Lancaster and Carolyn (Eric) Hobday of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren, Eric (Wendy) Warner, James (Marcy) Warner, Andrew (Deanna Behring) Warner and Barbara Hunt; six great grandchildren, Curtis, Matthew, Abbey, Austin, Kaitlyn and Gillian Warner; sister, Dorothy (Richard) Wasem of Lancaster and two nieces, Shirley Wasem and Bonnie Bolsen of Lancaster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warner Sr. and a grandson, David Hunt.
The family thanks the caring staff members at Carriage Court Assisted Living and at Crestview for their cheerful, loving care of Evalene and for their unfailing kindness to us. Special thanks to Dr. Edwards and to Jamie Weaver, PA, of Colonnade Medical Group for their compassionate care of Evalene and support to the family.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda and will be conducted by Dr. George Fry and Robert Warner Jr.
