Victor H. Young, 90, of Amanda, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at the Pickering House. Victor was born December 30, 1922 and was the oldest living native of Amanda. He was the son of the late Herbert and Mildred (Crites) Young. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an electrician on the USS Enterprise, a.k.a. The Grey Ghost. Victor was a journeyman electrician for over 40 years and was retired from Local #88 in Chillicothe, affiliated with Local #575 in Portsmouth and life member of VFW Post #3331 and D.A.V. in Circleville.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Young; son, William (Judy) Young of Amanda; daughter, Beth Young of San Mateo, California; grandchildren, Jennifer (Craig) Bennett, Matt (Elizabeth) Young and Dillon Yamani; three great grandchildren; brother, Ned R. (Rebecca) Young of Circleville; sister, Janet Hollern of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed and a grave side service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda have been entrusted with the arrangements.
