Joseph W. Kim, 89, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, September 5, 2011 at the Pickering House. He was born January 11, 1922 in Tuppers Plains, Ohio and was the son of the late Hernon and Lucy (Baker) Kim. Joe attended Bible Baptist Church in Lancaster and was a member of Olivedale Senior Citizens. He was a retired machinist at Diamond Power and was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by two sons, Joseph (Sharon) Kim of Sugar Grove and Charles (Connie) Kim of Five Points; two daughters, Bonita (James) Davis of Amanda and Mary (Terry) Garrett of Lancaster; thirteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one brother, Charles Kim of Tuppers Plains. He was preceded in death by a son, Elwood Kim; grandson, Vince Kim; great granddaughter, Leslie Miller; a sister and his second wife, Alta Kim.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster where military honors will be provided by AMVETS Post #2256, Circleville. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
