Dale R. Harmon, 67, of Amanda, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center. Dale was born on May 19, 1944 in Fairfield County and was the son of the late Levi and Alice (Poling) Harmon. He was a member of the Amanda Presbyterian Church. He was a 1963 graduate of Amanda-Clearcreek High School, a retired drywall hanger who worked for many companies in the area, former member of the Amanda Fire Dept. and past president of the Amanda Little League. Dale loved coaching kids at all levels and was an avid supporter of Amanda-Clearcreek athletics. He loved spending the last few years of his life traveling to Florida for the winter and fishing in the waters around Melbourne.
Dale is survived by his wife, Linda (Slater) Harmon; daughters, Geri (Tracy) Hiles of Lancaster and Kelly (Matt) Colliton of Amanda; four grandchildren, Jessika Dale Harmon, Jordan Hiles, Justice and Alyson Colliton; brother, Donald (Carolyn) Harmon of Amanda; sisters, Roverta Underwood of Lancster, Leota "Shorty" Harmon of Lakeland, Florida, Sue Harmon of Clarksville, Tennessee and Cindy (Mark) Wetzel of Amanda. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eldon, Carl, Robert and Bill Harmon and a sister, Mae Julian.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Elizabeth Tietz officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions be made to either the Amanda Little League or the Amanda Food Pantry in Dale's memory.
