Mary V. Cogdill, age 87 and a resident of Lancaster for 23 years, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at her home. She was born July 15, 1936, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Denver and Hazel D. (Wellman) Swim. She retired from Orient State Institution after 15 years of service. She was a member of the Open Door Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed arts & crafts and collecting Kelly Clowns. Mary was an immaculate homemaker who took great pride in every aspect of her home and family.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Charles; children, Allen (Kim) Wenger, of Obetz, Teresa Craft, of Grove City, Bob Wenger, of Parkersburg, WV, and Angela Cogdill, of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; many - many great and great - great grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Swim, of Derby and Ira Swim, of Mt. Sterling; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Cherie Swim, of Greenfield. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Swim.
At her request, there will be no formal services observed. Cremation has been arranged in the care of Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Concord Cemetery, Grove City.
