Lynn A. Young, age 81, of Amanda, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at home. He was born on June 7, 1943, in Lancaster, to Bernard and Freda (Snider) Young. He was a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, class of 1961 where he excelled in football, basketball, baseball, and track. In 2009, he was enshrined in the inaugural A-C Athletic Hall Of Fame. After attending one year at Ohio University where he played football, he chose to enlist in the United States Marine Corps where he served four years. Following his service, he worked for and retired from DuPont in Circleville with over 30 years of service. He was a past member and Commander of the Amanda American Legion, Clyde A. Smith Post #57. Lynn was a very private man who cherished time spent with his family and was always willing to help others whenever he could.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanne (Bussert) Young; children, Joe Young, Valeda (Larry) Slone, and Tim (Kisha) Young, all of Amanda, and Dedra (Chris) Solwecki, of Delaware; grandchildren, Mallori (Ricky) Foster, Cassi (Justin) Rainier, Jerod Young, Kaitlyn (William) Kilgore, Samantha Young, A.J. Seavolt, Courtney and Cade Young; great grandchildren, Mason and Wade Foster, Mya, Austin, and Joanna Rainier, Eliza Radditz, and Juniper Kilgore; close friend, Sue Helser. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary F. Young; and his best friend, Gary Helser.
In keeping with Lynn's private wishes, no formal services will be observed. Cremation has been arranged in the care of Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda.
