Lois Karlen, formerly of Lancaster, Ohio, was called home on Saturday, March 13, 2021. She passed peacefully at OhioHealth Hospice Kobacker House in Columbus. She was born May 22, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Walter and Henrietta (Hempler) Pichelmeyer.
Lois was a long-time resident of Lancaster and member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison and Wartburg College in Waverly Iowa, earning her Master’s in Social Work. Lois was a loving and supportive wife and mother who loved history, birds and nature and was beloved by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Rev. Marloe Karlen (Lancaster). She is survived by her sisters, Joanna Pichelmeyer, of Milwaukee, WI and Rachel Anderson, of Spokane, WA; three children, Becky (Karlen) Moening, Poland, ME; Sarah (Karlen) Eder, of Dublin, OH and David Karlen, of Seffner, FL; grandchildren, Christopher Eder, of Mansfield, OH and Leah (Eder) Blackerby, of Auburn, AL; and great granddaughter, Charlotte Blackerby.
