Joseph G. Porter, Jr.

Joseph G. Porter, Jr., 75, of Stoutsville, passed away at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on Sunday, July 22, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born March 1, 1943 in West Jefferson, NC to the late Joseph G. Porter, Sr., and Myrtle Ruth (McCoy) Porter. He was an avid car enthusiast and a former auto dealership owner with ties in the family drywall business, Porter Drywall. Joe was a friend to many and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Connie P. Porter; daughters, Brenda Porter and Susan Jo (Philip) Mott; step children, Shyna (Marc) Gawell, Shad (Mia) Kistler, and Shaleena (Jordan) Heiber; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; brothers and sisters, Jerry (Anita) Porter, James (Susan) Porter, Betty (Jim) Smith, Ruth (George) Boll and Mary (David) Anderson. 
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Rhonda LaGrow officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster.  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to noon on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to  Cornerstone Recovery, 706 W. Wheeling St., Lancaster, OH 43130 in Joe’s memory.
