John E. McDonald Jr.

John Elmer McDonald Jr., 63 of Lancaster went on to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 25, 2021, surrounded by his children and granddaughter. Born February 23, 1958, in Logan, WV to the late John E and Ilene (Mileto) McDonald.

His devotion to his family and firm faith in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 44 years, Sheila McDonald on December 17, 2021; his sister Lilee and brother Thomas.

He is survived by his daughter Michele (David) Blackburn, of Circleville; his son Brian (Tiffany) McDonald, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Makala (Brett), Cody (Gabby), Darius, Devin, Damian, Luke, and Madilyn. Two great grandchildren, Hazel and Harris; two sisters Beverly Schoenleb and Lorraine McDonald; dear brother-in-law Keith (Anette) Perkins; several nieces and nephews.

John retired from COTA after 30 years of service. John made many friends at work and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with family, watching the Steelers, fishing, and teaching & preaching the Gospel. John was a Godly man, who would give you the shirt off his back, and always made sure his family was taken care of. He enjoyed helping others and being able to share the word of God to anyone he met.

A visitation for John and Sheila will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. A funeral service for John and Sheila will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Rubyville Community Church, 5365 OH-139, Portsmouth, OH 45662 with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating. Interment will follow at the Rubyville Community Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made directly to the family to assist with expenses.
