Joan M. Hedrick

Joan M. "Joanie" Hedrick, age 66 of Amanda, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born June 17, 1956, in Warren, OH, the daughter of the late Maxine (McIntyre) and Russell Samuels. She was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, class of 1974 and earned her bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from The Ohio State University. Joanie loved crafts and travelling. She especially enjoyed time spent in Canada at the lake on Manitoulin Island and at her cabin in Hocking Hills. She attended Amanda United Methodist Church. She loved her dogs and her horses, a love she shares with her daughter.

She is survived by her husband of 16 years Ben Hedrick; children, Steven (Jeannie) Bohlman, of Seattle, WA, Brian (Caitlin) Bohlman, of Clover, SC, and Christy Bohlman, of Galloway; step-children, Amber (Christian) Tryon, of Buckeye, AZ, Michael (Tiffany) Hedrick, of Lancaster, and Haley (Alan) Randolph, of New Lexington; grandchildren, Claudia and Hazel, Drake, Maleah, Conor, and Levi, Trey and Mackenzie, and one more on the way; sister, Tracy Samuels, of Columbus; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Colby and Sandie. She is preceded in death by her parents; and infant grandson, Jaxon.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 W. Main St., Amanda with Pastor Gerald Mershimer officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
