Jerry Meldrum, 82, passed away on August 31, 2023, in Circleville, OH. He was born on May 13, 1941, in Martins Ferry, OH, to William "Bill" Meldrum and Doris "Dottie" (Moore) Meldrum. Jerry graduated from Martins Ferry High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio University. He started his career as a teacher and coach for Whitehall High School but eventually moved into accounting and retired after a successful 30 year career as Treasurer for Crane Plastics.
Jerry was best known for his love of sports, particularly golf, and is no doubt teeing off in the clouds. He loved his years as head coach for the infamous and undefeated youth travel football team, the Eastland Vikings. He also had an obsession with maintaining his fleet of classic cars in pristine condition.
Jerry is survived by his partner in life, Pat Meldrum whom he married on July 7, 1989. He is also survived by his devoted sons, Steve (Terri) Meldrum of New Albany, Ohio, and Mark (Kelly) Meldrum, of Portage, MI both from his first marriage to his lifelong friend, Sabra Meldrum of Columbus, Ohio. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Logan (ne Steve and Terri), Clayton, Jaxsen, Maegen, Elijah and Ki (ne Mark and Kelly), step-sons Todd (Joann) Lacey, Mike (Mary Jayne) Lacey, step grandchildren, Nick (Kendra), Tony (Jessica), and Sophie DeFrancisco and his sister, Janis Sweet (Chuck). He is preceded in death by his mother Doris ("Dottie") Meldrum, father William ("Bill") Meldrum, and sister Peggy Duvall.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, starting at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 West Main St., Amanda. A brief funeral service will follow beginning at 12:00 p.m. A private interment for family only will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster.
