Jerry "Pop" F. Lesher
Passed away on February 22, 2024 peacefully surrounded by his girls at the VA Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. Jerry was born on March 3, 1949 and the son of Romie and Martha Lesher from Long Ridge, West Virginia. In 1966 at the age of seventeen he joined the US Army. Jerry proudly served with the 82nd Airborne Division and was a combat Vietnam Veteran from 1966-1969. He was a lifetime member and supporter of the VFW. He moved from West Virginia with his girls to Ohio to join the Teamsters Union local 413 in 1978. He worked for Smiths Transfer then moving on to Roadway Express. At Roadway Express he served as the Chaplin. He spent thirty years with the Teamsters Union as a long haul truck driver and retiring from Roadway Express in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 2007. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. After retiring his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Jerry was known for his love of his family, God, his country and fellow veterans.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, aides and staff at the VA nursing home for their love and care of our beloved Pop. You will forever hold a special place for our family. The family would like to request in lieu of flowers please donate to your local VA or the VFW in honor of our Pop.
