Jerry Kern Sr

Jerry L. Kern Sr., age 84, of Amanda, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023, at his home. He was born August 15, 1939, in Amanda, the son of the late Paul A. and Margaret L. (Hiatt) Kern. He was a graduate of Stoutsville High School, class of 1959. Jerry was a meat cutter for 65 years, finishing his career at the Oakland Grocery. He attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Circleville. Jerry loved to play golf, cornhole, and bowling. He loved the Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball and softball for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judy A. (Ours); son, Jerry (Lisa) Kern Jr., of Circleville; daughter, Jodi (Trent) Good, of Amanda; grandchildren, Anthony E. (Sylvia) Moody Jr, Nathan W. (Morgan) Kern, Haley (Shelby) Justus, and Kristin (Eddie Beekman) Ross; great grandchildren, Hudson and Dawson Kern; brothers, Neil (Peggy) Kern, of Circleville and Jeff (Diana Effinger) Kern, of Lancaster; sisters, Janice Dillie, of Amanda and Joan (John) Stone, of Piqua; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the family home, 5981 Julian Rd. SW, Amanda. Cremation has been arranged in the care of the Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda.
