James L. "Andy" Anderson, age 80, of Amanda, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1944 in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of Harold T. and Mary E. (McCann) Anderson. He was a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, class of 1962 where he achieved several track and field records. At the time of his high school graduation, he had dinner with and was recruited by Woody Hayes. Andy is a member of the A-C Hall of Fame for basketball, football, and track. He worked for MidWest for almost three decades and then retired from McAuley's in Bremen. He loved to fish, boat and race horses and had actually owned race horses in the past.
He is survived by his children, Melissa (Valerie Faught) Anderson, of Newark, Michele Anderson of Lancaster, Michael (Sharon) Anderson, of Lancaster, Harold (Beth) Anderson of Chillicothe and daughter-in-law, Cindy Anderson of Lancaster; grandchildren, Jimi (Audra) Anderson, Rebecca (Eric) Hartman, Joey Zeimer, Brittany (Josh) Laluya, Sean, Jacob, Derek, Eric, Colt, Demi and Sabrina Anderson; many great grandchildren; brother, Bill; sisters, Bobbie Lou, Nancy, and Susan; numerous nieces and nephews; In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Seymour) Anderson; son, James T. Anderson; grandson, Jeffery Thomas Anderson.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2025, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. Interment will follow at Hitler-Ludwig Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.
