James A. âJimâ Jackson, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on November 9, 2017 after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born in Sugar Grove, Ohio to Joseph and Nora Jackson on January 22, 1933. He graduated from Berne Union High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired after more than 30 years as a machinist with General Motors.
Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Katrina Jackson; two granddaughters, Karly and Jaime Jackson and a grandson, Joshua Jackson. He is also survived by his sister, Jean Cates of Florida and a sister-in-law, Kate Jackson of Pleasantville and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including his lifelong best friend, Floyd Moury. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wilmer, Dolph, Lloyd, John and Howard and sisters, Mary, Opal and Belva.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the nurses and staff at Crestview Nursing Home for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Jerry Eaton officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where a military service will be observed. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
