James A. "Jim" Bly, age 83 of Amanda, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022, at his home. He was born October 8, 1938, in Ada, OH the son of Robert E. and Ethel M. (Patterson) Bly. He was a graduate of Reynoldsburg High School and then served four years in the Army. Jim worked for the Veterans Memorial in Columbus from 1955 until 1980. He started there as a teenager and then returned after his military service. In 1980, he went to work for George E. Fern Co. where he stayed until his retirement in 2020.
He is survived by his children, Jennifer Bly, Janet (Brian Bowman) Notestone, Michael (Iyana) Bly, and Jeff (Heather) Bly, all of Amanda; grandchildren, Mathew (Jessica) and Bradley (Ashley) Notestone, Joey and Garrett Drake, Levi and Mackenzie Bly; great grandchildren, Payton and Xzavier; brother, Garry Bly, of New Lexington; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Brenda (Roberts) Bly; sisters, Carol Rail and Faye Bly.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda with Pastor Chris Hildenbrand officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
