Jack Edward Tilley, 83, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born September 12, 1934 in Shawnee, Oklahoma and was the son of the late Jess O. and Noma (Brassfield) Tilley.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn (Hughes) Tilley; daughter Cathy Tilley and a son, Jeff Tilley and daughter-in-law, Brittany (Pinkstock) Tilley and a granddaughter, Charlotte Marie.
Jack was a retired farmer and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church on Crumley Rd. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany and the California National Guard/Reserves. He was a former Captain with the San Bernardino (Calif.) City Fire Dept. and the California Division of Forestry (now CalFire). He served on the Amanda-Clearcreek Board of Education for 12 years, with 7 years as board president. He was a member of the Hocking Twp. Zoning Commission for approximately 17 years. He was also a life member of the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Alumni.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Dr. George Fry officiating. Burial will follow in Green Mound Cemetery on Crumley Road. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Amanda-Clearcreek FFA Chapter, Trinity Lutheran Church or the Amanda-Clearcreek Alumni Endowment Fund in Jackâs memory.
