Herman F. Hinton Jr., 84, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Carroll Place. He was born March 5, 1931 in Ross County and was the son of the late Herman F. and Mildred (Arledge) Hinton Sr. Herman was the former owner and operator of Hintonâs Sunoco, avid fan of Ohio State Athletics and Cleveland Browns and Indians and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play in sports. Herman played the tuba for the Adelphi, Lancaster Community and Circleville Pumpkin Show bands until he was 77 years old. He attended Faith Memorial Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Suzi (Duane Feichter) McClaskey and son, Stan (Shelly) Hinton of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Michelle (Rick) Hutchison, Cory (Jennifer) Hinton, Bethany (Gregg) Herron, Jennifer (David) Emerson, and Sara (Troy) Busch; 13 great grandchildren, Callie, Julie and C.J. Caswell, Olivia and Averie Hutchison, Ty and Wesley Hinton, Lillian and Marra Herron, Parker and Samuel Emerson, Troy and Lainey Busch; sister, Beverly Schwalbach of Hallsville; brother, Glenn (Sue) Hinton of Adelphi; sister-in-law, Joan Hinton of Amanda and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilee Hinton; granddaughter, Jennifer Hinton Caswell; brother, Don Hinton and sister, Sally Cruit.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Carroll Place for their care of Herman during his stay.
A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Rev. Melvin Truex officiating. Interment to follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
