George Hatem, age 86 of Amanda, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the OSU Wexner Medical Center, with his family present. He was born March 29, 1934 in New Lexington, son of the late Moneer and Nellie Hatem. George was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church in New Lexington. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School in New Lexington and then served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was retired from Western Electric with over 20 years of service. He loved the Bengals, the Reds and singing. George loved his Church and life. He was happy, no matter what. He always considered himself a “happy go lucky guy.”
He is survived by his children, Cindy (Colleen) Hatem, of Port Richey, Florida and David (Kristine) Hatem, of Amanda; grandchildren, Domenic (Jessi) Spohn, Mo (Jessica) Spohn, Jerald Spohn, Mike (fiancée Stephanie Mesaros) Hatem, and Bryant (Jessica) Hatem; great grandchildren, Wesley, Raylee, Ayden, Gunner, Michael, and Maya; sister, Mary Jo (Doug) Shackelford; brother, Joe (Carol) Hatem. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Trudy; his daughter, Patricia Lynne Hatem-Spohn; brothers and sisters, John Hatem, Ray Hatem, Moneer Hatem Jr., Georgine Camp and Rosemary Allen.
In light of the Coronavirus restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been arranged in the care of Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda.
