Don Sharp, Jr., 67, of Amanda, went home to be with the Lord with his loved ones by his side on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He was born January 4, 1947, in Lancaster and was the son of the late Don and Nana (Cordle) Sharp Sr. Don was a 1965 graduate and co-valedictorian of Amanda-Clearcreek High School and served as a State FFA Officer. He was an honors student at The Ohio State University and obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in four years in Agricultural Education. He was also a proud member of the OSU Football team. After graduating college he served for many years as the Fairfield County 4-H Extension Agent and Camp Director. Don had been a lifelong farmer and owned and operated the family crop and dairy farm. Don served as past president of the Fairfield County Farm Bureau, past president of the Amanda Clearcreek Board of Education and coached basketball and football for over 20 years. In 2013, Don was awarded the Ohio Environmental Stewardship Award by the Ohio Dairy Producer's Association and most recently was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award at Amanda-Clearcreek. Don was also a lifelong member and board member of the Heidelberg United Church of Christ in Stoutsville.
Don was very proud of his family and is survived by Linda Crow; sons, Scott (Joy) Sharp of Amanda, Adam (Lisa) Sharp of Circleville, Kyle (Becky) Sharp of Amanda and Nathan Sharp of Lancaster; grandchildren, Katerina, Kaylee, Sydney, Brady, Aaron, Sara, Kylee, Bryce, Jocelyn, Trent and Dominic and Linda's sons, Chris and Matt Crow.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Heidelberg United Church of Christ in Stoutsville with burial to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda.
In lieu of flowers the family would like contributions made to the Don Sharp Memorial Fund through Chase Bank or in c/o Taylor Funeral Home, P.O. Box 176, Amanda, Ohio 43102. This memorial fund will be used to finance both the Fairfield County 4-H Endowment Fund and The Amanda-Clearcreek Alumni Scholarship Fund.
