Carol J. Callicoat, 68, passed away on November 3, 2024, while bravely battling cancer. Carol was born in Lancaster on October 12, 1956 to Josephine and Paul Smith. Carol was a giver. A giver of love for anyone who may need it. A giver of a safe place to stay for many. She never knew a stranger and prided herself in helping others. She spent her life taking care of others be it family, friends, friends of her children or adults with disabilities with whom she worked with for 25 years. A "wild child" growing up, she always spoke of how her life changed when she married the love of her life Jimmy on August 27, 1977. After having two children she never strayed from making her family a priority. She worried and took care of them until the very end, often putting her own needs last.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Jimmy Callicoat; parents Paul and Josephine Smith; brothers Robert Smith and Don Smith.
Survived by children Cristen (Shawn) Leppert, Christopher (Kiera) Callicoat; grandchildren, Alayna Leppert, Christopher Callicoat II, Russell Callicoat; brothers, Tom (Sue) Smith, Bill (Linda) Smith; sister, Marlene (Jerrell) Bennett, several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tammy Wright and Beckey Phillips.
A graveside service for both Jimmy and Carol will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the FairHope Hospice Pickering House in her name. A special thanks to their excellence of care.
