Barry Hopkins, age 62, of Lancaster passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Logan, OH to Clifford and Doris (Edwards) Hopkins on May 4, 1962. Barry was a graduate of Logan High School, class of 1980. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) where he served as Commander of Lancaster Chapter #40, District Commander, and State Executive Board Member; the Lancaster American Legion where he was the Second Vice; AMVETS; 40 and 8; and the VFW. As represented in his club memberships, he enjoyed serving veterans and especially loved time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sharon (Frank) Hopkins; children, Michael (Amanda) Hopkins, of Haydenville, John Hopkins, of Sugar Grove, Danielle (Trevor) Nelson, of Lancaster, Valerie (Bill) Alspaugh, of Lancaster, and Kristy (Reggie) Johnson, of Amanda; thirteen grandchildren; sister, Barbara Linehan, of Lancaster; brother, Bill Hopkins, of Florida; his loving canines, Scrappy Doo and Sophie. He is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Mark Van Horn.
Family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. Cremation will follow the visitation. Inurnment with military honors will be held in the Spring at Amanda Township Cemetery.
Friends may make memorial contributions to Fairhope Hospice or the DAV.
