Annabelle M. Bethel, 85, formerly of Amanda, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Logan Health Care Center. She was born August 27, 1931 in Fairfield County and was the daughter of the late Edward and Lulu (Young) Speakman.
Annabelle was brought up to feel she had to earn her worth every day. If you ever drove by her house you might see her on a ladder on the roof or scraping the barn. She would mow the field, pick up every little stick of wood in the field and until she was 82 she could be seen splitting wood and carrying it to the basement. She was tough and determined to finish any job, she cared for her family and made sure they were taken care of no matter how old they were. Late in life she started a career as a real estate agent and worked for HER.
She is survived by her two daughter, Connie (Allan) Conley of Waverly and Tammy (Doug) Willaman of Amanda; grandchildren, Christina (Rick) Donahue, Michelle (Matthew) Bergum, Shawn (Leslie) Molloy, Tyler Willaman and Matthew Willaman; great grandchildren, Michael Bergum, Cierra Molloy, Crystal Molloy and Emily Molloy and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bethel and two brothers, Gary and Milton Speakman.
In accordance with Annabelleâs wishes, a grave side service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Amanda Twp. Cemetery.
